For the last 3 years I have headed out to Dallas, Texas to be amongst what I consider to be some of the best wedding photographers in the world. The reason for my trip is to participate in a workshop that has helped my photography no end. The workshop is 4 days long, the first day is taken up by presentations from speakers such as Matt Mendelsohn, Amy Deputy and Deanne Fitzmaurice. The next 2 days are torture, you receive an assignment on the second morning, and you have to make your way to the assignment and get a story in pictures. The people know you are coming , but thats about it. You shoot for 2 days, and get all the images critiqued by night. I had the pleasure of being in Brooks Whittington’s team this year, and our critiques went on until 6.00am both days, we were then up again at 8.00am and out shooting.
My assignment this year was Angela Tucker. Angela is a partner in a law firm, a mother of 2 children, a wife to James, and she is also running for County Judge. My assignment was to document her for 2 days running up to the election. I must admit to having visions of an Obama style election campaign, speaking to thousands of adoring supporters. The reality of the situation was quite different, Angela whilst still working in the law firm, also runs the campaign, virtually single handed, as well as having to pick the children up from school, its a very hectic schedule, that mostly involved travelling in the car and being on the phone.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Dallas, and who knows, I may go back again next year.
Here are just a few of the images I captured over the 2 days.

I first met David and Joanna in London last year, I was in town shooting a wedding in Notting Hill and so we grabbed the chance to meet up and discuss their wedding. Both David and Joanna are doctors and work in the heart of London. Their wedding took place at the very impressive Highclere Castle, a wedding venue used by many of today’s celebrities. The couple had also hired the 3 waiters and it was great to meet up with them again and enjoy their routine. Here are some of my favourite images from their day.
